Cropredy Village Archives

The village of Cropredy is extremely fortunate in having a very rich set of archives relating to all aspects of life in a rural North Oxfordshire village. The archive comprises a vast array of documents, images, maps and audio recordings relating to residents, properties, pastimes, transport and commerce. The archives are partially digitized and a programme of work is underway to complete this enormous task and to make the records electronically accessible. A major proportion of the archive is made up of the Pamela Keegan Archive. Pamela, together with a dedicated team of volunteers, tirelessly collated thousands of documents relating to Cropredy life and saved them electronically in the early 2000s. The Cropredy Historical Society is also very fortunate in being the custodian of materials donated by current and former village residents, including a significant collection of images forming the Frank Smallpage Archive.

The digital part of the Pamela Keegan Archive was saved onto a large collection of compact discs and although the material cannot currently be downloaded online, it is available on request. Indexes of the CD archive contents are available using the links given below. The Index for CD 01 -63 gives guidance on searching the two Indexes. Please contact the Secretary of the CHS if you are interested in viewing the files for personal use quoting the CD Number. Be aware that unless otherwise stated, all material in this archive, electronic and printed, is copyright of the Cropredy Historical Society. In addition to the main CD collection. a number of additional CD discs on various topics were created and these have been identified as the Miscellaneous CD collection; an Index of these discs is provided below. There is also a collection of audio cassette tapes (the CT Collection) which captured conversations with former village residents about life in Cropredy through the twentieth century. The content on these tapes has been converted unedited to MP.3 format; an Index to these tapes is also given below.
